The 3rd installment form A_A, “Midori” (green in Japanese), carries on the synesthesia theme from the last release, associating the auditory texture to a visual color that functions as a static graphic score during the performance.
While we continued to engage in sonic exploration that doesn’t shy away from noise as well as constrain ourselves to recording everything live, this particular session marks a turning point in that we were self-critical of improvising for the sake of improvisation, and were concerned more with capturing the texture as a whole. As such, we ended up simplifying our instruments to a more familiar combination of a drum machine, random selection of mono / poly synths, and a sprinkle of modular samplers.
A1 & A2 are predicated on synthesized drones intermingling with brush strokes of sonic events and various dub techniques, while B1 is comprised entirely of a drum machine and an oscillator, albeit one that is heavily modulated, and it’s the banger that we’ve never had hitherto.
